In view of the latest measures introduced to mitigate the spread of Covid-19, in that, restaurants, kiosks & cafes may only open for take-away and delivery, the Government shall be assisting these businesses by granting them with the full wage supplement of €800 per month per full-time employee.
Those eateries whose wage supplement was reduced or terminated due to the revised scheme which was announced earlier this year, where the wage supplement was based on the % loss suffered due to the pandemic, will now be eligible for the full supplement.
It should be noted, however, that the total number of employees currently receiving the wage supplement should not be more than the number of employees on the wage supplement as of 29th May 2020.
Affected businesses should be contacted directly by Malta Enterprises to adjust to the new wage supplement scheme.
The wage supplement scheme has now been extended till June 2021. A further development was announced on 9th March 2021, that the wage supplement will be extended till end of year for those mostly impacted by the pandemic.
